Abstract
The chapter gives a concise introduction to the technological concept of Cyber-physical Systems (CPS), which are mechatronic systems with internet network connectivity, possibilities of cloud computing and digital services. It introduces also the technological concept of Industry 4.0, which is an engineering approach to apply CPS in industries such as manufacturing, automotive, energy, aerospace, as well as in healthcare.
