Abstract
The shoulder is a complex joint from a structural and functional point of view. The regular development of the elements of the joint is essential to guarantee stability and proper functioning. Moreover, a deep knowledge of typical features and measurements according to the different phases of skeletal growth are crucial to not misinterpret any developmental changes as pathological as well as to not miss any lesions. In particular, the features of the humeral metaphyseal stripe, the measuring method of the anteroposterior glenoid angle, and potential pitfalls associated with widening of the acromioclavicular joint are discussed and graphically illustrated using clinical images.
