Abstract
This chapter presents the intricacies of the ideation process and which elements are crucial for success, based on an inductive thematic analysis of creative practitioners. The focus here is on the structural elements, the leadership, and the expectation setting. The characters that make up a team have been the subject of a significant portion of creativity research. This chapter will dive more into the purposeful assembly of a team for a specific purpose and the team fit, size, and diversity. The final chapter of interventions to boost ideation discusses a less discussed topic—that of the dynamics and relationships within the ideation team. While many of the prominent process loss factors appear related to team dynamics, less focus has been put on how to improve these dynamics. The thematic analysis of the expert interviews, however, indicates how this can be done by looking at participative safety, input acceptance, and the value of creative partnerships.
