Abstract
This chapter discusses the history of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) for communication equity and the role of IAMCR in the growth of critical, internationalist perspectives in communication and media studies scholarship. It considers the role of anti-imperialist and anti-colonial communication paradigms in destabilizing dominant narratives and emphasizes the continuing relevance of the NAM as a meta-narrative for data economy strategies that may serve the contemporary Global South.
