Abstract

Converting audio signals to the frequency domain allows the spectrum to be easily modified. This is because frequency amplitudes and phases can be changed by multiplication with complex values. The FFT transforms the convolution operation in the time domain (e.g., FIR filtering) to multiplication in the frequency domain.
