Abstract

Thyroid dysfunction is seen regularly in ambulatory practice. Both hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism can have impact on the patient’s quality of life and the risk for development of other disorders, such as cardiac dysfunction. This section will explore the prevalence, etiologies, diagnosis, and management of overt and subclinical hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism as well as review the management of thyroid nodules.
