Abstract
Stephen P. Lewis comments on Jeffrey D. Webster’s chapter “The Interplay of Adversity and Wisdom Development: The H.E.R.O.E. model” and how the H.E.R.O.E. model offers a lens to view self-injury recovery. Individuals who engage in self-injury are able to expand their emotion regulation and manage difficult emotions through recovery, along with reflecting upon their experiences to build resilience and growth, similar to the aspects of wisdom described in the H.E.R.O.E. model.
