Abstract

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) has been used as an off-label treatment for benign skin diseases/conditions. Among them acne, photoaging, and cutaneous leishmaniasis gather the most high-quality evidence. Different sensitizers, concentrations, application times, light sources, and irradiation fluences have been used; the optimum protocols remain to be determined.
