Abstract
The Professor hadn’t expected to find himself on board a ferry crossing the Baltic Sea. Less than three weeks before, he’d started a new job at a small scientific centre in the attractive university city of Uppsala in central Sweden—and now he stood high above the calm, sparkling water on the promenade deck of a sizeable and well-appointed passenger ship, as it slipped between the islands and islets of the Stockholm archipelago on a bright morning in early October 1990.
‘I’m not afraid of storms, for I’m learning how to sail my ship.’
