Abstract

It is estimated that 1% of pregnant patients will suffer a complication that forces them to be cared for in an intensive care unit. Many of them will require provision of ventilatory support, which becomes challenging. The approach to a pregnant patient has an increased complexity when facing the physiological changes of pregnancy, a difficult airway, avoiding maternal death, and avoiding perinatal death.
