Abstract
This book sought to present and put into a historical and social perspective the current status of journalism education in a selection of illustrative case studies taken from countries with limited media freedom. The authors discussed the concrete circumstances in which learning happens, highlighting the challenges and paradoxes that education faces. They also showed how those very challenges and paradoxes could be creatively turned into a rich reservoir of ideas from which every educator, in any part of the world, can benefit to innovate in a field in much need of development. The final chapter of this edited collection will summarize the key points of each contribution and then draw a conclusion focusing on the main issues and action points.
