Complications in Kidney Transplantation

Abstract

Proteinuric kidney diseases such as focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) can recur after kidney transplantation. This case reviews the presentation and course of a patient with “minimal change disease” who had recurrence early after transplant. We later describe the patient’s development of rejection, highlighting the need for ongoing vigilance with respect to suspicion of rejection in patients with recurrent native kidney disease. We discuss various treatments and long-term outcomes of patients with recurrent FSGS.
