Complications in Kidney Transplantation

Abstract

C1q nephropathy (C1qN) is an uncommon, idiopathic glomerular disease characterized by dominant or codominant C1q deposition primarily in mesangium in patients without evidence of systemic lupus erythematosus, membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis, or infection. It generally presents as a nephrotic syndrome in older children and young adults but is also uncommonly discovered in renal allograft of the transplant patient. There is a wide range of variations in the clinical picture, and biopsy is often diagnostic. Management is conservative with variable outcomes depending on clinical and histological factors. The kidney transplant recipients usually have stable creatinine with no or stable proteinuria and no loss of graft function.
