Abstract
In solid organ transplants, immunosuppression is a two-edged sword. While maintaining an adequate level of immunosuppression is crucial to the well-being of the allograft, a hibernating immune system would render the patient defenseless against opportunistic infections. In this chapter, we present a complex case of polyomavirus infection to summarize the complexity of the decision-making process that a transplant physician may confront on a day-to-day basis.
