Abstract

Latinx youth face significant barriers to access to mental health care, including stigma, difficulty navigating mental health services, language barriers, and intergenerational stigma. Studies have demonstrated the rate of mental health issues in Hispanics is similar to non-Hispanic whites, with some added barriers that might impact the accessibility to mental health services, Hispanic children are less likely to receive appropriate mental health services when needed. Hispanic families face substantial disparities when accessing mental health care, access to readily available comprehensive care in their primary language, financial barriers, cultural barriers, and immigration barriers. It is imperative that we work together to eliminate them.
