Abstract
Ultrasonographic evaluation of musculoskeletal system requires understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the ultrasound machine and scanning. This chapter will highlight the basic principles of image generation, the available transducers and machine settings, and the various scanning maneuvers and techniques. Lastly, a standardized approach to the performance of musculoskeletal ultrasonographic scanning will be discussed.
