Abstract
In the age of the fourth industrial revolution (or the industry 4.0), scientific progress is continually being made in different areas such as artificial intelligence and the blockchain. Among these areas, blockchain is emerging as an open distributed ledger that records transactions between two parties efficiently and permanently. Everything of value can be programmed to be recorded on the distributed ledger, and trust is created through a consensus of all authorized parties agreeing to any changes or additions to the blockchain to establish validity. In this new age, there is an emerging trend of using blockchain to validate transactions or information with accuracy. To understand the relationship between blockchain and human resource management, this paper conducted a systematic literature review of blockchain and human resources management using keywords “blockchain”, “human resource management”, and “recruitment.” The trend analyses were performed using Harzing’s Publish and Perish, Mendeley, and VOSviewer. Articles were extracted from Web-of-Science, Google Scholar, and SpringerLink to further investigate the integration of blockchain into human resource management and recruiting processes. A co-citation analysis was conducted through MaxQDA to determine the most important articles in the literature, and it was discovered that there is an emergence of blockchain-based recruitment in the human resource management field.
