Abstract
A patent grants a property right by a sovereign authority to an inventor, which provides the inventor exclusive rights to the patented process, design, or invention for a designated period in exchange for a comprehensive disclosure of the invention. Many innovations in the coconut water industry such as extraction, vending, processing and value addition of coconut water, preparation of Nata de coco and vinegar from mature coconut water as well as machineries for use in coconut water industry have been made and patented. This chapter gives details of different patents granted by countries such as USA, China, Australia, Japan, Canada, India and other patents by World Intellectual Property Organization as well as Europe. A total of 55 patents are included with USA (42%), China (25%), WIPO (11%), India (5%) topping the list.
