Abstract
Jim Bridges volunteered to serve in Korea. He shipped out in 1951 and offers an account at once humorous and harrowing. The sights of bodies and nerve-shredding dark patrols intermingles with stories of daily monotony and friendly banter. Jim also provides an insight into the lives of Koreans, and their poverty and remarkable development into a modern economy. The war’s importance for world history is evident in his remembrance.
