Anterior Knee Pain and Patellar Instability

Abstract

A 65-year-old woman with a painless subcutaneous mass in the anterior aspect of the knee was referred to our hospital for a second opinion. The lesion had recurred twice. The pathological diagnosis was glomangiosarcoma. It is a rare malignant tumor with a tendency to local invasion and recurrence after excision. The tumoral extension evaluation revealed no other lesions. Physical examination showed a transverse excision scar of 10 cm along with a palpable mass adhered to the skin. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed a mass adjacent to the patellar tendon with both cutaneous and patellar tendon infiltration.
