Abstract

The proper functioning of production enterprises depends on the regularity of the flow of production factors. That should be ensured by proper transport management, not only outside but also inside the plant. In accordance with the principles of Lean Logistics, there was developed a project of improvements for selected logistics processes of one of the leading manufacturers of the household appliances industry. The aim of the project was to improve the internal transport within 4 stages: stage 0 - current state analysis, stage 1 - implementation of Milk Run concept and Kanban system, stage 2 - improvement of implemented solutions, stage 3 - development of proposals for further improvements. There were characterized transport problems in the form of low frequency of deliveries, resulting in overstock and downtime. Therefore, Kanban system and Milk Run concept were implemented - there were prepared: appropriate packaging and component storage locations, new transport equipment and the required documentation. The introduced changes significantly improved the transport of components to the analyzed area, however, there was noted a problem of employee overload. In response to identified problem sources, there was developed a new division of responsibilities together with some facilitations of the process. As a result of the project, there were developed proposals for changes in the logistics process and its documentation. Their implementation allowed the company to improve the production flow. Finally, there were presented proposals for further improvements, including changes of: warehouse supply logistics, component storage locations and packaging of delivered components.
