Textbook of Dermatologic Ultrasound

Abstract

How to start and improve the performance of dermatologic ultrasound examinations are excellent questions. The challenge is to work with standardized protocols of examinations that could be reproducible and perform valuable reports.

As we know, the ultrasound examinations’ sensitivity can vary according to the type of machine, the frequency of the probe, and the level of training of the operator. Thus, it is mandatory to follow the guidelines for performing dermatologic ultrasound examinations; otherwise, the exams’ quality could be affected.

In this chapter, we review the current recommendations, settings, protocols, training, and reports of these exams. We hope that this technique’s enthusiastic followers can have a solid base to start and improve their examinations’ performance.
