Abstract
The tongue (Latin, lingua; Greek, glos sa) is a unique organ located in the oral cavity. It has importance in the digestive system and is the primary organ of taste in the gustatory system. It also plays important roles in mastication and deglutition. Additionally, the tongue is an integral component of the speech pathway, as it helps with articulation. Typically, the length of a human tongue is around 3.3 in. (8.5 cm) for men and 3.1 in. (7.9 cm) for women [1].
