Abstract

The term “glossectomy” is used to describe a variety of surgical procedures for the resection of tongue tumors. In 1978, Péri described four types of transoral glossectomy for noncancer-related diseases of the tongue to reduce tongue volume [1]. Later on, other attempts were made to classify macroglossia-related surgery [2] and tongue cancer-related surgery [3].
