Abstract

Presentation to the ED with chest pain involves processes that may seem automatic, but are intentional in creation. This chapter focuses on the type of transportation to the ED, the types of presentations of chest pain, and confounding variables such as age and gender which may confuse the clinical picture. The chapter details differential of not to miss chest pain etiologies including aortic dissection and esophageal rupture. Finally, it concludes with how to assess these patients in accordance with present guidelines.
