Abstract
France continues to place nuclear deterrence at the heart of its security, within the framework of European collective security provided by the Atlantic Alliance and with the objective of accelerating the strengthening of the continent’s strategic autonomy in the face of the exacerbation of the threats posed by the rise of authoritarian and nationalist regimes in Europe and in the world. In these circumstances, arms control is seen as a necessarily very pragmatic discipline.
