Abstract

‘John Gordon Lorimer’s Gazetteer of the Persian Gulf, Oman and Central Arabia, issued by the government of British India in two large volumes in 1908–15, is a key reference in the history of the region’ (Fikri 2011, 42). So begins the introduction to this source in Heart and History, together with a slightly blurry image of the three leather-bound books that make up Volume 1.
