Abstract
For more than two decades there has been a growing realization that building secure computer systems requires attention not just to security mechanisms and underlying implementations, but also, to user interfaces and psychological issues. Although one would expect evolutionary pressure from market forces to slowly improve the usability of security systems over time, focused research on important usable privacy and security (UPS) topics has the ability to accelerate the development and adoption of secure systems that people can use.
