Faceted Search

Abstract

Congratulations, you have made it to the end of the lecture! I hope it’s been an enlightening journey from Aristotle’s tree to Ranganathan’s colons—and then all the way to modern web sites and the practical considerations for implementing a faceted search system that delivers a satisfying user experience. As someone who has spent the past decade working on faceted search, I cannot help but be an evangelist for an approach that, in my view, is critical to building support for the rich spectrum of information-seeking needs.
