Abstract
What is the likelihood that a professor of German, an author of several articles and a book on Franz Kafka, would become an authority on the globalization of engineering education? What is the likelihood that a professor of German would be able to encourage hundreds of engineering students to become proficient in a second or third language and spend a year of work and study abroad? What is the likelihood that a professor of German would develop a network with dozens of global companies to ensure internships for students and long-term positions for graduates as well as significant financial support for the overall programmatic effort?
