Abstract
Medical education is rapidly and continuously changing in order to cope with the accelerating advancements and development in information and communication technologies, which have great impact on the daily practice of neurosurgery, surgery, and medical services. Values have been the fundamental base for the education and learning system throughout history. The integration of values in every aspect of medical teaching and learning is not an elusive aim, difficult to be achieved, as the seeds and spirits of these values are deeply implanted and built within the body of all different systems of education in general, and in medical in neurosurgical educational and learning bodies in particular. Training young physicians, surgeons, and neurosurgeons has always been a complex and challenging task. Currently, information and communication technology are advancing very fast and sometimes beyond expectation and imagination. This welcomed development has unprecedentedly challenged the educators, trainers, and curriculum builders around the globe. The educators are striving to catch up with such rapid developments. At all times, the trainee was, has been, and will be always the center of the education process. The concept of Values-Based Medical Education (VsBME) has emerged to emphasize this fact and outline how the values and ethics are, and ought to be, integrated in all facets and aspects of the education processes.
