Abstract
Most users of dynamic binary modification systems do not need to worry about the internal structure and implementation of binary modification engine. In fact, one can argue that the need for understanding of the system itself signifies a weakness of the user-exposed API. Therefore, the content of this chapter is primarily geared toward the researchers and developers of dynamic binary modifiers themselves, while it may also be a useful resource for users who are doing particularly novel or atypical instrumentation tasks.
