Robotic Urologic Surgery

Abstract

The minimally invasive robotic-assisted laparoscopic (RAL) approach has increased over time due to its many technical and clinical benefits and is now regularly performed at centers across the world. Pediatric population has its particularity in indications, technical steps, and outcomes measures.

In this chapter, we attempt to summarize the use of the RAL approach to the ureter in the pediatric population. The first part (Amrita Mohanty and Mohan S. Gundeti) deals with the common extravesical ureteric reimplantation, the second part (Ana Bujons) deals with the robotic options for uretero-ureteral anastomosis in duplex anomalies, and the last part (Alaa El-Ghoneimi) illustrates how to use the ureter as a continent catheterization conduit in selected indications.
