Abstract
Although a totally intracorporeal robot-assisted laparoscopic radical cystectomy with an ileal conduit may seem to be more complicated because of bowel handling, high volume centers show shorter operative times and no difference in high-grade complications as compared to the extracorporeal technique. A transition from extracorporeal to intracorporeal urinary diversion is safe and reduces operative time, blood loss, and uretero-enteric stricture rates.
A detailed description of patient positioning, trocar placement, instrument use, bowel stapling technique, and uretero-enteric anastomosis is provided in this chapter.
