Abstract

Robot-assisted adrenalectomy is gaining popularity as an effective treatment option for adrenal diseases. The inherent technological advantages of the robotic approach help the surgeons to overcome some limitations of laparoscopy while providing a minimally invasive approach. Several studies have shown that robot-assisted adrenalectomy is a safe procedure, burdened by lower rates of complications, while providing comparable oncologic outcomes, when compared with laparoscopic and open technique. It is associated with a short learning curve, thus allowing more surgeons, including those with limited laparoscopic experience, to offer their patients an effective and minimally invasive approach to adrenalectomy. This book chapter provides an overview of the procedure, describing indications, technique, possible complications, and outcomes. Moreover, we give some insights on robot-assisted partial adrenalectomy.
