Abstract

Under the new social conditions that arose after the 1848 revolution, Zawadski initiated a transformation of the Natural Science Section of the Agricultural Society into an independent research society dedicated to “pure” science. Such concept of pure scientific research deviated from the statutes of the Agricultural Society, in which research served practical needs.
