Abstract

The traditional design methods mainly focus on product or technical system themselves, but seldom recognize and plan design process from creative cognition approach point of views. This chapter introduces the crucial initial stage of product innovation design. It focuses on a method to innovation design and knowledge-based approach that leads the user through the design process, helps identify critical issues, and proposes new conceptual schemes for specific configurations. The definition and types of innovative conceptual design are introduced, and the factors that affect individual creativity are analyzed.
