Abstract

Transfemoral access is the most commonly used approach for neuroendovascular procedures. The advantages and disadvantages of the transfemoral approach and potential complications are discussed. Relevant anatomy is illustrated with concise figures. The puncture techniques and commonly used femoral puncture closure devices are introduced in detail. The key points to avoid failure and complications are also discussed with an extensive review of the current literature.
