Abstract
This chapter makes a foray into the area of mobilizing knowledge generated by scientific research, an inherent dimension of health promotion practice and research. After introducing the field of knowledge mobilization, the chapter discusses the research posture and partnerships established with practice settings that underpin the scientific knowledge produced and mobilized. The core of the chapter is a detailed analysis of the dialogical process that took place in the production and use of knowledge translation instruments, broken down according to three main strategies: (1) synthesis, dissemination, and exchange of scientific results in forms suitable for specific audiences; (2) appropriation and translation of scientific knowledge into practical knowledge and know-how; and (3) putting knowledge into action. This is followed by an examination of this process, informed by the actor–network theory. This review highlights the agency of knowledge translation instruments, the usage scenarios and conditions of use encrypted in the instruments by their designers, and the active role of users in the career of knowledge translation instruments.
