Abstract
Information and communication technologies (ICTs) are changing us and our worlds in subtle, sophisticated and sometimes violent ways, as much as any other of the technologies that rely on science. Today’s Romeos and Juliets are checking their phones rather than smelling the roses or listening for birds. And so they won’t notice that our ecosystems are approaching their tipping points and the spring has become silent.
