Abstract

The chapter provides an overview of the travelling of universities being particularly relevant in the area of start-up support. Based on a case description from the Excellence Start-up Center of the Ruhr-University Bochum, the chapter shows how and where challenges and new potentials can arise when such a project extends organizationally across all units of the university. Based on the “Three Pillars,” concrete solutions will be proposed as to how universities can become fit for the future without simply running after the market. Universities must learn to better connect their (human) resources and implement holistic agility in their mindset—especially that of their employees. Temporary project teams across units and hierarchical boundaries, connectivity of competences, and time and space for individual relationships can help.
