Abstract
Skull base surgery implies sometimes the occurrence of CSF leak. The use of lumbar drain as a preventative measure or after-the-fact treatment has been used in a very variable fashion. We review in this chapter the principles, rationale, and techniques in utilizing lumbar drainage in the setting of preoperative skull base surgery.
