Atlas of Whole Body Contouring

Abstract

The surgical approach for fat contouring is always more preferable for plastic surgeons. But there are numerous potential patients that prefer non/minimal invasive procedures for a variety of reasons. The basic advantages of non/minimal invasive procedures are as follows: recovery is shorter, downtime is less, pain is limited and more predictable and swelling is limited. For all procedures, there is no need for general anesthesia. People often feel more comfortable in choosing a less invasive procedure and may feel more motivated for these procedures. There are numerous devices developed for minimally invasive body fat contouring. Some of them are FDA approved while others are partially FDA approved, CE approved or under the process of approval. These devices can be classified based on the technology they utilize as follows: temperature-based treatment, laser-based treatment, magnetic waves-based treatment, Focused ultrasound-based treatment, light-based treatment, and chemical-based treatment.
