Abstract

Midline incision of the urethral plate (UP) was introduced as a modification of Mathieu hypospadias repair to improve cosmetic appearance of the meatus and to have a slit-like meatus. Application of the midline incision to the Thiersch principle evoluted into the tubularized incised plate (TIP) technique.
