Abstract

Meatal-based flaps have been described since 1861. It is suitable for all forms of distal hypospadias where the meatus lies distal to the middle of the penis. It is also suitable as a salvage procedure. The main issue was that the meatus looked like a fish mouth. Several modifications were described to improve the appearance of the meatus including Barcat’s, MAVIS, and Y-V modified Mathieu.
