Abstract

Hypospadias surgery can only be performed in children under general anaesthesia. Proper preoperative examination of the child and detailed explanation of the anaesthetic procedure and premedication and possible risks and benefits are essential. Studies have shown that the effect of surgery and anaesthesia in infancy on academic performance was not significant. Caudal and regional anaesthesia is an important part of anaesthesia protocol for hypospadias to reduce postoperative pain.
