Abstract
Scalp hair is a major ultraviolet radiation (UVR) protective structure for scalp skin. Baldness significantly increases the risk of chronic UVR-induced lesions in this area. The development of multiple actinic keratoses and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of skin is also known as field cancerization. Outdoor professions and outdoor leisure are associated with the development of field cancerization in Caucasians.
