Abstract

Squamous cell carcinoma is the second most common non-melanoma skin cancer. It accounts for 20–50% of skin cancers, with an increasing incidence worldwide. The incidence of squamous cell carcinoma increases with age, with an average age of onset in the mid-60s. Clinically, squamous cell carcinoma presents as papule, plaque, or indurated nodule with a smooth, scaly, verrucous, or ulcerative surface. The scalp area is commonly affected. The histopathological examination is a gold diagnostic method. Management is primarily surgical. Rarely adjuvant chemoradiation is recommended.
