Abstract

Long-term care is caring for the elderly with physical or mental disabilities. Typically, it can be divided into two main types, which are home-based Care and Residential Care. For home-based care organisations mainly provide a wide range of long-term care services such as personal care, supportive care, specialised nursing care and domestic aid to the elderly at their homes. In contrast, nursing homes are the major long-term care service providers that offer residential care for the elderly. The elderly living in nursing homes generally have more health problems and require “many-to-one” services. This chapter provides the overview, features, and differences of long-term care healthcare policies in various counties.
