Abstract
Posterior hip disorders can be challenging for clinicians to differentiate and diagnose accurately due to the location of several closely related pain generators and shared pain patterns. Such injuries can cause significant functional impairment if not treated expeditiously. The majority of posterior hip disorders can be managed successfully through conservative measures consisting of rehabilitation and, when indicated, nonoperative procedures. This chapter aims to provide clinicians with an approach to accurately diagnose and efficiently treat the most common posterior hip disorders. This chapter describes the key clinical features in the history and physical examination, appropriate diagnostic workup, and treatment options including both nonoperative and surgical interventions for each pathology.
